CHARACTERISTICS OF CONTAINERS

The containers appeared in order to speed up the loading and unloading process of materials shipped, as well as reduce losses resulting from breakage, deterioration, and deviation. Containers are resistant and easily handled large boxes made of steel, aluminum, and/or fiber that store merchandise for transportation to avoid operational and financial losses.

Each container has the owner logo, registration location, number, size, type, space definition, and maximum weight supported.

The containers are modular, with the 20” containers considered as 1 module called TEU (Twenty Feet or Equivalent Unit), which serve as a standard to define the size of the container ship.

As time progressed, due to market needs, different types of containers appeared: Standard, Refrigerated, Ventilated, Open Top, etc., according to the following models and characteristics:

Usage: Highly separated and refrigerated by cold circulating air according to the temperature control. Similar to refrigerated containers.
